Book Display Bulletin Board

Rational:
A place for students to display books that they have read. Work on filling out forms, writing, and reading.

Motivation:
“Good morning Kindergarteners! Does anyone see something that changed in the room last night? Yeah I put up a new bulletin board! Can we read the words on this bulletin board? (Read the title together) So on this bulletin board we are going to be able to display all of the books we are reading! When you read a book that you really like you can fill out a review slip, and hang the book and the review slip up on the bulletin board. I have already read one book and really want to fill out a review slip, will you help me fill it out? (Fill out review slip together)
Description of project and nature and use:
When students read books that they enjoy, they can fill out a review slip and hang the book and the review slip on this bulletin board. Then other students can look at the review slips and choose books to read based on what their classmates had to say about them.

- Cut out Thing One and Thing Two

After reading Green Eggs and Ham, have students come up with rhyming words for places they could read or things they could read with. Could have students practice their writing and spelling by having students write out the sentences themselves.

The class will work on their rhyming words, spelling and writing to make this poem about reading. They will learn how to write with an AABBCCDD etc. pattern. Then could have students draw pictures to go with lines from their poem and hang it up on the bulletin board to display.
