- Ten Apples Up on Top Book
- Red and Green paper apples cut outs (15 of each color per student)
- Glue
- Red and Green Markers
Motivation:
Read Ten Apples Up on Top.
Steps:
- Have paper apples sitting on tables in little bowls.
- Give every student a copy of the Five Apples Up on Top worksheet.
- Explain that each character on the bottom of the page is going to always have five apples “up on top”. It is up to the student to decide how many red and how many green apples to put on each character’s head. But they must always use a different combination of apples for every character.
- Have students glue on their apple combinations.
- Fill in the math sentence underneath each character. Have students write in how many apples of each color in that color. (Ex. 3 + 2 = 5; 3 green + 2 red = 5 apples total)
